Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the app show "No data" or fail to load?

RailSeat fetches live data from IRCTC APIs. Occasional failures are due to IRCTC server downtime or maintenance, not RailSeat itself. Please wait a few minutes and try again. Ensure you are searching for a valid train number and that the journey date is within the next 120 days (IRCTC's chart window).

Why are no hop paths shown even though intermediate stations exist?

Hop paths are computed only when a confirmed vacant berth exists for at least one segment. If the train is fully waitlisted on all legs, no hop paths will appear. Try a different class or a nearby date.

Can RailSeat book tickets for me?

No. RailSeat is a read-only vacancy checker. All bookings must be made through the official IRCTC website or the IRCTC Rail Connect app.

How do I install RailSeat on my phone?

Tap the install button in the top bar (looks like a download arrow) or use your browser's "Add to Home Screen" option. RailSeat is a Progressive Web App (PWA) and works on Android and iOS without needing an app store.

Is RailSeat free?

Yes, completely free with no signup, no ads*, and no hidden fees. (*We may show limited non-intrusive promotional banners in the future to cover hosting costs.)

Does RailSeat support regional languages?

Yes. Use the language picker in the top bar to switch the interface between English and several regional languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, and Punjabi. Train and station names are also transliterated where possible.

Troubleshooting

The page is blank or stuck loading

  • Hard-refresh the page: Ctrl + Shift + R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Shift + R (Mac).
  • Clear your browser cache and reload.
  • Try a different browser or disable any VPN / ad-blocker extensions that may be blocking the IRCTC API requests.

Station list is not showing after I select a train

The station list is loaded dynamically after a valid train number is entered. Make sure you have selected a suggestion from the autocomplete dropdown. If it still fails, the IRCTC schedule endpoint may be temporarily unavailable.
